Featured Guitar Chord
Here is a Em/D chord. It is an Em chord, with a D as
the lowest sounding note. This is a slash
chord. The chord formula for a minor chord is 1 b3
5, E G B in this case. But because the lowest sounding
note is a D, your ear will hear the E G and B in relationship
to it. So D would be heard as 1, then the E would be heard
as 9, and G as 11, and B as 13. So you have a much more
complicated chord sound by just superimposing a simple
Em chord shape over a D bass note. Listen for this chord
in "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin.

Try playing the chords below to hear how Em/D
might be used.
