GuitarHotShot.com is Membership guitar lessons site. You pay a one-time fee for unlimited access to the videos and learning material. On the plus side the membership is cheap, and unfortunately the rest is all downside. This website is not worth a fraction of the price. This product defiantly goes into the buyer beware category.
This website was brought to my attention by the owner and teacher, which I am sure after reading this will wish he had not. After reading the sales material on the site, it sounded too good to be true. As cheap as it is, I bought a membership to see for myself.
The main sales website for this product is very professionally done, and you may think that quality carries over into the lesson material….it doesn’t. First I would like to say that just about everything the sales page says is false, starting with one of the top captions. “"Download 40 hours of Intensive Guitar lessons on video..." First of all you cannot download the videos without paying an extra fee, and 2nd there are only just over 2 hours of guitar lesson videos.
There is a bonus video section with a bunch of piano and violin videos that you can download. I doubt even those added in add up to 40 hours. The sales page claims that there are 52 video lessons, and there are, but only 32 of them relate to the guitar. The others are piano and violin lessons
The site claims that there is an extensive library of every scale, chord, arpeggio and groove known to man. There is not. There is barely any of that material. That is an all out false statement. If the author is planning to add that material later, that is fine….but do not make such a claim if you are not providing that material.
The author claims that you will learn to read music. A quick explanation of guitar tablature, learning what the names of the notes are on the staff is not a tutorial on how to read music on the guitar.
Another claim is “Over 10,000 counted riffs, solos, scales and licks…… Every video lesson comes complete with graphical documentation so we make sure you learn every riff, pattern and scale.” I have no idea what he was counting, but 10,000 counted riffs is a grouse exaggeration to say the least. And there is almost no graphical documentation for the videos. Some say “Doc coming soon”. And if there is anything notated, it is extremely limited.
The videos themselves are very low quality. A lot of the time they are shot with someone holding a camera and randomly zooming in and out. So the videos are very shaky.
For the Jam Tracks that are part of this website are actually downloaded from another website, and are rap loops rather than guitar oriented jam tracks. So these could be of use if you want to jam over that style.
The author of this course actually has many other membership website covering a variety of topics. Including one that claims you will learn how to bring any women home in just 60 seconds. After reading his sales letter for that website, I soon realized just how delusional he was. Althought B.S. seems a stronger skill than his guitar playing, so I suppose he could be have a way with the ladies. I can only judge is guitar teaching.
There are some good guitar products out there; this is not one of them. I give the site 1/2 star. I immediately asked for a refund, which was given promptly.
