Minor Pentatonic

There are a lot of ways that you could shift between the 5 different minor pentatonic positions. Below are the most common for a couple of different reasons.

  1. These two paths up and down the neck use only your 1st and 3rd fingers.
  2. There is a definite 2 string finger shape for each set of two strings

 

Extended Minor Pentatonic Pattern #1

Use your 3rd finger to shift positions on the way up, and your 1st finger to shift positions on the way down.

Notice that the shape to the left is the same on the following sets of strings. This makes memorizing and using this scale very easy.
